Brunch at Biscotti's

This was the brunch after the wedding and we got to see Tim and Heather again before they left for their honey moon in Italy. The restaurant is located in the casino, so it was easy for us to get ready in the early morning and be there on time.


There were many people there that I had no clue who they are, but oh well...As long as there are food in front of me and RCSIII next to me, I think I'll be okay.

It didn't take me long to decided what to order. I guess I must have been in a poached egg kick, so after yesterday at Peg's, I still went for the Benedict brunch here.

I think this is called "Benedict Ala Roma". Basically it's a fancier version of Eggs Benedict with a little Italian twist. This means that, instead of English muffins, they used focaccia, instead of Canadian bacon, they used Filet Mignon and they served two kinds of Hollandaise on top of the two poached eggs, Basil Pesto and     sun dried tomato. This came with bistro potatos (home fries) on the side.

The focaccia and Filet Mignon were delicious. The Hollandaise sauces were both on the more lemony side ( a bit similar to Peg's) but still very nice. The part that I was not happy about was their poached eggs. They were way over poached, which means that no running yolks!!! How sad!!! You can see for yourself in the picture below, the yolks were just going nowhere.

Well...maybe I can be more understandable here that it took them a while to serve us all while the waitress took her time to do that, the poached eggs were still cooking on the steaks. So it could be perfectly cooked when it was just out from the kitchen.

RCSIII ordered Southern Pecan Waffle...

 

Please take my advice...DON'T ORDER IT! It was terrible. Waffle was too dense and soggy (since they already put syrup on it for you) and the flavor was just wrong. The only good parts are the pecan and the caramelized banana on top, but how can you miss that. If they did, this restaurant can close down business. 

After all, this is just a spot in a casino. When you are tired in the morning, and don't feel like walking around looking for food, this could be the spot. However, local places are usually better if you don't mind the walk/drive.
